Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is seeking a Research Scholar to join its Energy & Climate Program. The Program�s work focuses on reducing the climate impacts from the oil and transportation sectors. The Carnegie Oil Initiative conducts in-depth research and provides expert analysis, strategic guidance, and policy frameworks to manage new global oil assets while protecting the climate. The Initiative publishes reports, articles and op-eds in a wide array of venues, sponsors global oil-climate forums and participates in other global events, develops public policies, engages public, private, and non-profit organizations, and maintains an extensive webpage.
Responsibilities include research and analysis, writing, policy development, outreach, public speaking, and fundraising. The candidate will focus initially on issues related to oil and gas supplies and managing their climate impacts while developing their own expertise in an emerging area that could include: the oil-water nexus, natural gas transition, electric vehicle policy development, or carbon pricing policy. In addition to developing their own research priorities, the candidate will participate in different aspects of the Oil Initiative�s substantive work and assist the Senior Associate with the management of the Initiative�s finances and planning and collaborate on other Energy & Climate Program endeavors.
Five years or more policy-related energy experience is required. The ideal candidate will have a masters� degree, B.S. in an energy-related field, analytic training, proficiency with policy analysis, excellent writing and presentation skills, experience working globally, experience managing junior staff, a record of energy policy publications, and a proven track record for fundraising.
