Description:The Carnegie Middle East Center, based in Beirut, is seeking a full-time Senior Scholar with experience in Economics. The scholar will plan, design and conduct independent research and analysis to contribute to the understanding of economic challenges and transformations taking place in the Middle East and North Africa with a goal to informing the policy debate and decision-making process; author Carnegie papers, reports, and other research-based contributions that have strong analytical content and provide recommendations for policymakers; monitor and analyze current economic developments in the region and engage through shorter written commentaries, policy briefs, and media outreach in timely discussion and analysis of these developments and trends; and organize workshops, conferences and seminars to consider key economic policy issues and to build a dynamic network of regional scholars and researchers with a common interest in issues related to the short and long term economic transformation taking place in individual MENA countries and related issues.

Position requires a distinguished record of research and writing on Middle East economic issues; minimum of seven years� experience in research on Middle East economic issues; native level written or oral Arabic; good written and oral English; and Ph.D. in Economics or related field.
