| Description: | Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a foreign policy think tank with global operations, seeks a leading scholar of contemporary South Asia with a strong interest in policy. Based in Washington, DC, the Senior Associate will share major responsibility for shaping and implementing the Program�s outreach in Washington and South Asia and work with management in soliciting foundation and external support while simultaneously conducting independent research and active publication. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred: India�s or Pakistan�s political economy, Indian or Pakistani domestic politics; SARC-area economics, trade and development.
Successful candidates will have worked on policy-relevant problems against the backdrop of an ongoing set of research interests; be able to frame complex issues intelligibly for the policy community inside and outside of the U.S. government; have a significant publishing record or considerable U.S. government experience on South Asian issues; be able to shape the direction of the program in collaboration with other scholars and management; possess a Ph.D. in an area of contemporary South Asian studies, political science or international relations. A background in comparative politics, economics or political economy highly desirable.
