China Energy & Climate Policy
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a leading think tank specializing in international affairs, is seeking a highly strategic, politically astute individual with extensive US-China experience to serve as a senior research associate and lead the China Energy & Climate Program. The China Energy & Climate Program is an initiative within the Carnegie Energy & Climate Program, which engages global experts working in energy technology, environmental science, and political economy to develop practical solutions for policy makers around the world. Responsibilities will include working with high-level representatives engaged in climate and energy dialogues between the US and China; advancing and promoting dialogue around bi-lateral agreements; conducting cooperative and joint policy research and development; developing a sector-based approach to meeting energy and climate goals as a means of complementing top-down dialogues with bottom-up solutions; establishing collaborative partnerships on climate/energy/economic platforms, initiating pilot programs, and working with stakeholders to advance best practices; and publishing results of programmatic efforts in a variety of formats that reach a broad, international audience.
Ideal candidate will have a strong background and involvement in recent China energy and climate policy issues; demonstrated ability to produce first-rate analysis, research and writing with a publication record; strong management skills and proven capacity to build collaboration with multi-disciplinary staff across program areas and across geographies; fluency in English; fluency in Mandarin Chinese desirable. Ph.D. in related field of expertise or equivalent experience.
